Obituary of Anne-Lise M. Maida

Anne-Lise M. Maida of Freehold, NJ, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Anne-Lise was born on April 2, 1929 in Sonderso, Denmark and spent her childhood there. Attending local schools, she learned to speak German and English, in addition to Danish. She travelled throughout Europe and loved going out dancing with her friends. She came to the United States in 1957 and married her husband, William A. Maida, who predeceased her after 56 years of marriage. Anne-Lise earned her citizenship here and was very proud to be an American. She and William raised a family in Colts Neck, NJ, where she was “The Avon Lady” for over 20 years. She was also an active member of Luther Memorial Church for many years, and a beloved member of the Crafty Christians group. But her greatest joy was raising her two children and being in their lives for six decades. She leaves behind a daughter, Lise-Marie, and son, Daniel. Anne-Lise will be remembered by family and friends as a vibrant, outgoing, kind, and loving lady with a beautiful smile that lit up her face. A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 2 pm at Luther Memorial Church, 818 Tinton Ave, Tinton Falls. Burial will be on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at approximately 11:30 am at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus (procession leaving Higgins Memorial Home at 10 am). Due to Covid precautions, a repast will not be held, and masks and social distancing will be required. Lise-Marie and Daniel welcome all who feel comfortable participating during these times of concern with Covid, but express that no one should feel obligated to do so. Anne-Lise loved animals, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Monmouth County SPCA, 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724.
