Obituary of James Lawrence "Saint" St. Germaine
Beloved Father and Brother– James Lawrence "Saint" St. Germaine, 72, died Thursday February 18, 2021 in his home in Freehold, NJ.
Born in 1949 in New Jersey to Mae and Henry(both deceased), he helped raise his six siblings and graduated from Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) in 1967 continuing on to St. Francis College, earning his bachelor's degree 1971. After graduation, he returned to NJ, married and adopted two children.
He spent his early career traveling the country in steel sales before shifting to the banking industry. He retired in 2013.
Active in local sports and the community, he coached recreational adult teams and basketball at St. Rose of Lima– to the delight of his players and the chagrin of their opponents.
Jim Felt things in a Big Way– embracing opportunities to express those feelings in his demonstrative and signature fashion. Friends and family knew well, his booming voice, his expressive gestures, curated and impressive whistling, and his room filling laugh. Friends, family, colleagues, and perfect strangers alike were treated to his sesquipedalian missives on any number of topics– ranging from office culture, local and professional sports, to his ideas for improving the VA and government as a whole. One exceptionally-convincing, hand-written letter inspired NBA player John Crotty to visit and coach practice with Jim's 7th-8th grade basketball team.
Fiercely loyal, loving, and intensely engaged in the things that interested him most, Jim charmed, disarmed, and delighted everyone lucky enough to call him friend or family.
He is predeceased by brother Brian, survived by son Andrew, daughter Emily, brother Robert, sisters Mary, Elizabeth, Katie, and Tricia, granddaughter Gabriella Evelyn, and cherished partner Lori Harris.
