Obituary of Kathleen Elizabeth Flanagan

Kathleen Elizabeth Flanagan, 70, of Freehold Township died on Monday, February 15, 2021 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was born in Newark. Mrs. Flanagan was a legal secretary for Smith and Shaw, PA, Howell Township before her retirement. She was a graduate of Mother Seton Regional High School and an active volunteer for the school’s alumnae events and activities. After high school, she studied at the Berkeley Secretarial School, East Orange. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Her husband, Charles A. Flanagan, Jr., died in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Alberta McAleavey. Surviving are two sons, Brian Flanagan, his wife Amena, and their children, Ian, Emmett, and Alana; and Patrick Flanagan; two brothers, James McAleavey, his wife Kathleen, and their children, Jessica, Meagan, Mary Kate and Jamie, and Thomas McAleavey, his wife Julie, and their children, Alberta and Jack. Services were held at the Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel Township on Saturday, February 20, 2021. Memorial donations to the Sisters of Charity of St. Elizabeth, PO Box 476, Convent Station, NJ 07961 would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold was in charge of arrangements.
