She always made sure to win tickets to 95.9 the WRAT’s annual Halloween party every year. Her proudest moment was winning a 1971 Chevelle from the WRAT and Joey Kramer, the drummer of Aerosmith, handed her the keys.
She loved her dog Sheba, riding in her jeep, and the color purple.
She was a proud Mom-Mom to two beautiful grandkids, James Benko (2017) and Charlotte Benko (2021). She expressed how grateful she was to have met her granddaughter before she went into the hospital.

My mom passed away on Monday night. She was a loving wife, aunt, cousin, friend, Mother, and Mom Mom. She was a beautiful, hardworking, fun and caring woman. She loved dancing, baseball/softball, roller skating, rock-n-roll, the color purple, Halloween, hairdressing, and her jeep...We shared a lot in common.
If you knew my mom, you knew that Courtney and I were not her only children. She cherished her time with Girl Scouts and Jackson Recreation Girls Softball the most and dedicated so much of her life to helping kids.
If you ever got Dottie’s angry face or she yelled at you, you were one of her kids.
She was married to the love of her life for 34 beautiful years. My dad always knew how to make her laugh. Their love for each other was inspiring, and I hope to lead by their example. Without hesitation, when my mom needed a kidney transplant, my dad offered to be a donor. It gave us another 12 blessed years with our mom that we did not take for granted.
I’ll admit, it was sometimes hard to see past her condition, but I will always remember her as the beautiful woman who loved to dress to the nines to go out on a date with my dad and simply lit up the dance floor in his arms, the proud woman who got her cosmetology license so she could set a good example for her daughters, the badass cruising around in her 1971 Chevelle that she won off the radio (like I said...badass)!! And the cool Mom who would load all the neighborhood kids in the back of the station wagon and rush us off to six flags when it was raining, so we could walk right on all the rides.
She was a wonderful, caring woman and I am thankful to be her daughter. I am all that I am because of her and I love and miss her so much.
