Obituary of Thomas J McCaffery

Thomas J. McCaffery, 84, of Millstone Township passed away at his home on Sunday, January 17, 2021. He was born in Long Branch and was a lifelong resident of Millstone Township. He was an instrument and control mechanic for Bell Labs and Lucent Technologies in Holmdel for 28 years. After that he was employed by the Millstone Township Road Department and Halka Nurseries, Millstone Township. Tom was a communicant of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, Millstone Township. He was a member of Prince of Peace Council No. 5903, Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Kivelitz General Assembly, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and the Millstone Elks Lodge No. 2613. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas McCaffery, Sr. and Mary Furlong McCaffery and a brother, Jack. Surviving are his wife Carmela; two sons, Patrick McCaffery and James McCaffery and his wife Dawn; and five grandchildren, Alyssa, Kayla, James Ryan, Sean, and Brian. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ST. Joseph’s Church, 91 Stillhouse Road, Millstone Township on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery.
