Obituary of Raymond Joseph Thompson

Raymond Joseph Thompson, 66, of Millstone Township passed away suddenly on January 5, 2021. Ray was predeceased by his loving parents, Ethel and Francis Thompson of South Amboy and his best buddy and brother-in-law, John Caruso of Millstone Township with whom he’s now reunited as they welcome him home. Raised in South Amboy, Ray was employed at DuPont in Parlin, retiring after 43 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus in Englishtown and Freehold and a longtime usher at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Englishtown. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing with his son, Raymond, volunteering at many Special Olympics events and chaperoning trips for people with special needs. Of all the things Ray loved most it was spending time with his high school sweetheart, best friend, and loving wife of 45 years, Karen. Ray was a very kind-hearted, gentle soul who will be greatly missed by many. Ray leaves behind the broken hearts of his loving wife, Karen, and son Raymond (Amy) of Millstone Township and grandson Zachary. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Nancy Caruso, Jackson Township, brothers-in-law, Thomas Caruso of Monroe and James Caruso (Dawn) of Jackson, nieces, nephews, and many cousins and friends. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services will be held at graveside at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold on Friday, January 8, at 10:30 a.m. under the direction of the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
