Obituary of James Edward Fitzgerald
James Edward Fitzgerald of Beachwood, formerly of Freehold, was taken into heaven on February 10th, 2015. He was surrounded by his family.
He was a man of unparalleled kindness and charity, soft spoken and devout, living his life according to his Catholic beliefs. His eighty years served as a principled example to his children, grandchildren, and the many others he touched.
He was a skilled tinkerer. When not working on his cars or home, he spent time in his basement or garage, bringing to life his latest invention. He and his wife travelled extensively with their many close friends.
He was predeceased by his brother William F. Fitzgerald and his granddaughter Mae Rose McNamara.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Clara, his son James, his daughter Nancy and her husband James McNamara, and grandchildren James, MaryKate, and Molly Grace McNamara, and Ian Fitzgerald.
Viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Friday February 13th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold, on Saturday at 10am followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima cemetery in Freehold. In lieu of flowers a donation to St. Barnabas Church in Bayville, NJ would be appreciated.
