Obituary of Robert W. Lithgow, Sr.
Robert W. Lithgow, Sr., 63, of Freehold Township died on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Neptune Township and was a lifelong Freehold resident.
He was a school crossing guard at the Freehold Intermediate School/Park Avenue School in Freehold Borough.
He and his family owned and operated the Coffee Shop on the Square West in Freehold for over ten years.
Bob was a former member and secretary of Engine and Hose Company No. 1 of the Freehold Fire Department and served as department secretary for several years. He was a member of the Freehold Firemen’s Exempt Association.
He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Freehold and was an Eagle Scout.
He was predeceased by a son, Christopher Lithgow in 1979 and his mother, Kathryn Lithgow, in 2019; and a granddaughter MacKenzie in 2020.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. Lithgow, Jr. and Kasey Lithgow; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer Kara and Dave Sietz and Kristine and Sean Elkins; his father, Fred Lithgow; a brother and sister-in-law, Scott W. and Theresa Lithgow; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Terry McGackin and Nancy and Mark Fernicola; grandchildren, William and Colin, Riley and Alex, and Brett, Madeline, Abigail, and Elijah; and his companion, Elaine Patterson.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations to the Freehold Fire Department Memorial Fund, 49 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
