Obituary of Albert H. Lyter, Jr.

Albert H. Lyter, Jr., 93, of Freehold Township, passed away peacefully at Applewood Healthcare Facility on Saturday, July 25, 2020. He was born in West Fairview, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1926. Albert graduated from Lemoyne High School in 1944 and Upper Iowa University in 1976. Albert was a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be remembered as a humble man who radiated love and compassion. His family meant the world to him. Mr. Lyter was a veteran of World War II. He worked the remainder of his career as a civil servant with the Department of Defence, the Air Force and Navy. Albert loved to garden and play golf in his leisure time. Albert was baptized and confirmed in the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in West Fairview, PA. He found a home at the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Harrisburg, PA for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Freehold for the past 15 years. . Albert’s faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, was the guiding light for his life and his greatest gift to his family. Albert was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Mary Jane Lyter, in 2016. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Paul, and his sisters Madelyn and Nancy. Surviving are his beloved children and grandchildren; son, Albert H. Lyter III (Robin), daughter, Melanie Jane Bowen (Edward), granddaughter Lindsey Michelle Hennessey (Vincent), grandson, Jonathan Edward Bowen, and granddaughter, Kathryn Jane Groh (Tyler. He also leaves behind 4 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.
