Obituary of Gail Gerega Hughes

On Saturday, June 20, 2020, Gail Gerega Hughes, 65, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends. Gail was born on May 24, 1955 in Brooklyn, NY to John Gerega and Justina (Judy) Grofik Gerega. She lived in New Jersey for most of her life before relocating to the Fort Myers area in Florida fourteen years ago. Gail worked for PNC bank for 25 years before retiring as Assistant Vice President in 2005. After retiring in Florida, Gail enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. An avid cruise enthusiast, she had many adventures with friends and family at sea. Gail will be remembered most for her kind and generous spirit, her quick wit, and her strength. She was a friend to anyone who met her, and her smile lit up a room. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Alyson and Danny Horstman; her son and daughter-in-law Matthew and Melissa Deutsch; her faithful service dog, Annabelle; her beloved grandchildren, Dani and Aidan Horstman, and Maisie Deutsch; and many dear friends and relatives. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. followed Interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
