James Shaw

Obituary of James Ernest Shaw

James Ernest Shaw was born on November 20, 1937 in Orangeburg, SC to the late Victoria Rivers and late Ernest Shaw. James served his country in the Air Force where he learned aviation mechanics. After his service, “Bub” came back to New Jersey. He wed Charlotte and together raised their children in Freehold Township, NJ. His love of family showed. As President of the New Jersey reunion committee, he contributed to the first Rivers Tucker Family Reunion. He did not take vacations to cruise or go out of the country; he took vacations to visit his family. Nearly every summer, James would drive the family to reunions throughout the United States. James’ kids have fond memories of the house filled with music Sunday mornings. And family members recall many fun gatherings at the house. If you asked Uncle Bub “what do you do?”, he would say “I fix airplanes”, but we will remember him as much more. He will be remembered as extremely smart and hardworking. He loved and supported his family in many ways; assisting them on the purchase of first cars or imparting wisdom on all things from world history to music. “Bub” was strong-willed and true to his word. James knew the valve of hard work and passed on that wisdom to his family. On June 1, 2020 he was called to the Lord at the age of 82.
