Obituary of Richard M. Hibbs
Richard M. Hibbs, 84, of Cranbury passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. Born in Freehold, he lived there prior to moving to Cranbury 31 years ago.
Mr. Hibbs was a former police chief for the Freehold Borough Police Department.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Hibbs was a communicant of the Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monroe Township.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1672, Freehold; and the American Legion Post No. 148, Hightstown.
Mr. Hibbs was a former board member and past president of the Freehold Borough Board of Education.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Dana Marie Hibbs, in 1974; and his brother, Robert Hibbs, in 1993.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Gloria Ann Blackwell Hibbs; two devoted sons, Richard J. Hibbs, Cranbury, and Robert M. Hibbs and his wife, Suzanne, St. Louis, Missouri; a dear sister, Roberta Bowling, Manasquan; and two loving grandchildren, Claire Marie Hibbs and Alina Hagan.
Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima R. C. Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
