Obituary of Essie Mae Daniels

Essie Mae Daniels, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2015. She was born on April 24, 1931 in Ebbs, Florida to the late John Jackson, Sr., Essie Mae Jackson-Faison, and stepfather Rev. Phillip Faison. Essie Mae leaves to cherish a lifetime full of memories to her husband, A.C. Daniels; her children, Geneva Robinson (John), Gilbert Hodge (Helen), Alexander Hodge, II (Gertie), Willie James Hodge, Gregory Hodge (Lessie), Jimmy Lee Hodge (Carol), four sisters, Alberta Hodge, Idella Washington, Johnnie Mae Harris, and Mary Benton. She raised five grandchildren, Francine Hodge-Gainey, Danielle Hodge-Hill, Maxine Hodge, Sondra Johnson-Peace and Crystal Hodge-Major. She also leaves to cherish her memories 40 grandchildren, 139 great grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren, one special son-in-law, Henry Gainey, Jr., two special friends Ceola Pitts and Olivia Sparks, and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Old Ship of Zion Baptist Church, Englishtown followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery. The Thursday viewing at church is cancelled due to weather conditions.
