Obituary of Mary Meagan Barnes
Mary Meagan Barnes (Meg), 41, of Tinton Falls, died suddenly of unknown causes at home on March 5, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents Raymond Thomas and Annmarie Theresa (Knab) Barnes.
Meagan was a Registered Nurse at Jersey Shore Medical Center, but she was more than that. To quote Meg, she "did God’s work on earth every day" and cared for many patients with humor and grace. It was not unusual for patients and families to write letters to recount the great care they received from her. Being a nurse meant everything to her. She was passionate and caring.
In addition to her work, Meagan enjoyed being the life of the party with family and friends. From the St. Paddy’s Day Parade in Belmar to the Kilt Run in Manasquan, Meg had a zest for fun. When she wasn't working on her golf game, she enjoyed going to many concerts with family and friends or would host nieces and nephews to sleepovers and trips at the beach. She was a larger-than-life, vibrant and a beautiful sister and friend. She was so proud of her Irish heritage.
Meagan leaves behind a family that she loved and cherished. Her sisters Denise, Lisa (Toner), Laurie (Lesnik) and brothers Ray, Chris, Timmy and Michael along with her many nieces and nephews: Sean and Kevin Toner; Evan and Austin Barnes; Zack and Jacob Barnes; Lexie, Joey and Antonio Barnes; Kelly, Eddie and Sara Lesnik; Annmarie (Bennett) Barnes and Matt Barnes. Meg will miss her beloved dogs Otis and Bubba who will be lost without her.
We wish we knew why God took you. He must have needed an awesome angel nurse in heaven! We will always carry you in our hearts, Meagan, and we will be lost without you.
Services will be held at Higgins Memorial Home in Freehold, NJ on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 2–4 and 7–9 p.m. A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 12 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Veronica's Church in Howell with a cemetery service to follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
