Obituary of Doris Bierman
Doris was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 6th, 1933, to Julia and Theodore Bierman.
As a child, Doris lived at home with her family and attended Special Education classes in Brooklyn, New York.
When Doris was 18 years old, she and her family moved to New Jersey. Doris’ father died in 1974; she remained living with her mother until she passed away in 1987.
Doris’ mother had made arrangements for Doris to be cared for by a family friend upon her death.
Doris lived there for two years. In November 1989 Doris was placed in a skill development home in Edison, New Jersey.
Doris had been attending the Highland Park Adult Training Center since 1983. In 1998, at the age of 64, Doris moved to a sponsor home in Robbinsville, New Jersey. She then began attending the Medallion Care Day Program.
In June 2005, the sponsor stated she was no longer able to care for Doris so she was moved to the PineBrook Care Center in Englishtown, New Jersey. Doris enjoyed her life at PineBrook. Doris had a smile for everyone who greeted her. She could often be found in the day room with her peers, participating in games, music, and arts and crafts. She loved her baby dolls and wearing various types of jewelry, some of which she had made.
She will be dearly missed by her friends and staff at Pinebrook Care Center.
