Judith Moreland Zuckerman

Obituary of Judith Ann Moreland Zuckerman

Judith Ann Hobbs was born in Harlem, New York to William and Norma Hobbs on May 12th. She was the oldest of four children, spending her youth as an active member of her father’s church in Mt. Vernon, New York. She attended John Adam High School and York College in Queens. Judith Ann was married to Robert L. Moreland and together they raised four children. Her children will always remember her for the sacrifices she made to be available and present through their formative years. She was the ever-present classroom mom, school fund raiser, and dance class chauffeur. An avid traveler, she was never afraid to book a trip anywhere in the world with her good friends and travel buddies Elaine and Kay. She will always be remembered for “dressing to the nines,” using her shopping prowess to always find the perfect outfit with a blouse, jacket, bag, and shoes to match.

After raising her children, Judith Ann worked as an executive secretary for the Times Mirror and DDB Needham advertising agencies. After living in St. Albans, New York and Freehold, NJ for many years, she retired to Clearwater, Florida.

Judith Ann is preceded in death by her first husband Robert L. Moreland, her second husband Paul H. Zuckerman, and her daughter Gwene L. Moreland.

Judith Ann, or “Nana” as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, is survived by her daughters Bernette Lazarre (Husband, Donald) of Ewing, New Jersey, Allison Moreland (Partner, Yona) of Brooklyn, New York, and Yvette Miller Ed.S (Husband, Royal) of Trinity, Florida, her grandchildren Danielle Lazarre, Dr. Dominique Lazarre, Maurice Lazarre, Ashley Miller, Esquire., and one great-grandchild Amaya Lazarre. She will be missed by a host of family and friends.

Memorial services will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at noon followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
