Obituary of Althea Marie Rose
Althea Marie Rose, 88 of Freehold passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Mrs. Rose was born in her parent’s apartment on top of her Uncle Gus’s bar on Main Street in Freehold, and was a lifelong resident.
Mrs. Rose was a school bus driver for the Freehold Township Board of Education for 27 years, retiring 23 years ago.
She enjoyed gardening, bingo, her trips to Atlantic City and Parx Casino, the beach, and most of all spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her sons, DeWitt “Buster” Rose and Thomas John Rose; her brothers, Neil and John Hendrickson; and her sister, Ruth Stankiewicz.
Surviving are her daughters, Karen Rose and Janice Rose, both of Freehold; a sister, Jeanne Kuniegel and her husband Ed, Jefferson, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Thomas Rose, Louis Rose and his wife, Melissa, Gary Mangarella and his wife Celia, and R.J. Wheat; and eight great grandchildren, Louie, Jr., Ryan, Tommy, Jr., Parker, Mikayla, Tyler, Reagan, and Sophia; and her former granddaughter-in-law, Tracey Rose.
Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Interment will be private.
