Obituary of Joan Della Pietro
Joan Della Pietro, 66, of Freehold, NJ was called to Heaven on November 13, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her predeceased sister Patricia and nephew Stephen appeared by her side to guide her home. A determined woman to all those who knew her, she would not let her illness get the best of her and fought hard every step of the way overcoming many odds.
She was loved by her sisters and brother, and greatly by her cherished and beloved son William who predeceased her. "Aunt Joanie" was also loved by her countless nieces and nephews. She shared a very special relationship with her niece, Andrea Aksan of Jackson, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, she settled in Jackson not far from her sisters Patricia and Carol and their families, later moving to Freehold. Joan worked for Shop Rite in Howell as a deli clerk for over twenty years up until her illness. She was admired and loved by her coworkers.
She was predeceased by her mother, Joan Sisto of Newark, her sister, Patricia Puopolo and brother-in-law, Lawrence of Jackson, her dear brother, Robert Green of PA, and her nephew, Stephen Puopolo of Jackson.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Carol Cuomo and her brother-in-law John, NC, her sister-in-law Irene Green, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
