Obituary of Dorothy E. Burdge
Dorothy E. Burdge, 90, of Englishtown, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Freehold, she lived there her whole life prior to moving to Englishtown 32 years ago.
Mrs. Burdge was a machine operator for the 3-M Company, Freehold for 24 years, retiring in 1986. Prior to that, she was employed by Brockway Glass Company, Freehold.
She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, where she served as deacon, office manager of the Sunday school, past president of the Unity Club, member of the Circle 2 Club, and member of the Church World Services, all at the church. She also was a member of the Board of Elections in Englishtown.
She was predeceased by her parents, Elwood and Dorothy Seedorff Brown; two brothers, Donald and Woodrow Brown; and three sisters, Margaret Dwight, Carolyn Schue, and Phyllis Smith.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Burdge, Englishtown, and Alan Burdge and his wife, Joy, Saylorsville, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Carol Burdge and her husband, James Tarleton, Mamers, North Carolina; a sister, Marion Vinyard, Freehold; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold, 118 West Main Street, Freehold. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Donations in her memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold would be appreciated.
