Obituary of Henrietta Brown

Our Beloved Mother, Henrietta Brown was born on August 27, 1945 in Tuskegee, Alabama to the late Elizabeth Jenkins and James A. Key. Henrietta departed this life on September 19th, 2018 at Genesis Jersey Shore Center, Eatontown, N.J. surrounded by her loving family and friends. Henrietta was a product of the Macon County Public School System, in Tuskegee, Alabama where she obtained her Elementary and Secondary Education, Graduating in 1964. She accepted Christ at an early age. Shortly after graduating she moved to New Jersey where she has lived her entire life. Henrietta was a Deaconess under the Late Rev. Arthur McGee Jr., for many years at Union Baptist Church and she also was a Pastor’s Aide President. Upon Rev. McGee’s passing she was under the Leadership of Rev. Johnny Wright Sr., where she continued to hold her Title as Deaconess. Henrietta also served as a Missionary, and was on the Hospitality and Kitchen Committees… “She was a very hard worker for Union Baptist Church!!! And any other Church that needed her help she always jumped right in and did her part!!!” About a year ago she joined Good Samaritan Bright Star Church under the Rev. Salania A. Wilson. Henrietta worked for Family And Children Services, Long Branch, N.J. and Meridian Home Care, Wall Township, N.J., for many, many years. She enjoyed Church Outings, going to Gospel Shows, Bus Rides to the Casino’s, dancing and goodtimes with friends and family. Henrietta was a good cook and she enjoyed cooking all types of food but was most famous for her STUFFING, MACARONI N CHEESE, CABBAGE AND HER PIES. “She was one OUTSPOKEN WOMAN that didn’t mind telling you what was on her mind good or bad!!!” SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED!!!! Henrietta was a one of eight children and she was pre-deceased by both parents, a son, three sisters, Dorothy Dillard, Odell Jenkins, & Alma Ree Fulton, and one brother, Arthur Jenkins... She leaves to Cherish Her Precious Memories her daughter, Franzenia Cowens, Woodbridge, Va., her son, Fred James, Asbury Park, NJ, one sister, Adell (Elijah) Cobb Clearwater, Fla, two brothers: Henry (Joanne) Jenkins, Neptune, NJ. and Albert Jenkins, Clearwater, Fla., one God-Daughter, Minister Gloria Brown, Neptune, NJ., two God-Sons, Jamar Key, Newark, NJ., and Basiel Yarbrough, Buffalo, NY., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The viewing will be held at the Good Samaritan Bright Star Church, 1812 Monroe Ave., Neptune on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. The interment will be held at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
