Obituary of Matyas Steinmacher

Matyas Steinmacher, of Freehold, son of Anna Redling and Jozsef Steinmacher, passed away on July 18, 2018, at the age of 83. Born and raised in Papa Nyoger, Hungary, Matyas immigrated to the United States in 1958 via a four-year residency in Maria Enzersdorf, Austria. He was a resident of Linden, New Jersey until moving to Freehold, New Jersey in 2013. Matyas enjoyed a life-long career as a machinist and later as an operations manager at Hammer Manufacturing Company, a company he helped to flourish. Matyas was a loyal, brave, and loving man who will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 53 years, Lorraine; daughter, Denise and her husband, Robert; son, Glen and his wife, Samantha; his three grandsons, Sean, Gavin, and Joseph; nieces, Kim and Linda; nephew, Steven; and his sister-in-law, Loretta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. A Memorial Mass for Matyas will be held at St. Veronica Church, 4219 Route 9 North, Howell, NJ on July 28 at 9:30 am. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
