Obituary of Althea L. Dobbins

Althea L. Dobbins, 91, of Rutland, Vermont, formerly of Freehold, passed away on July 12, 2018, in Rutland, Vermont. Born and raised in Trenton, she moved to Freehold with her new husband Wally in 1954 and she remained in Freehold for the next 60 years. She had spent the last three years with her family in Wallingford, Vermont. Althea worked as a nurse at Fitkin Hospital, Neptune, before working as head nurse at John L. Montgomery Care Center, Freehold Township, retiring in 1984. She served as a member, deacon, and elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold. She was a former member of the Liberty Grange, Marlboro Township. Althea was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Robert Dobbins, of Freehold, in 2003. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bruce W. Dobbins and Dr. Erika J. Berner, Wallingford, Vermont; four granddaughters; four grandsons; three great grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold. Interment will follow alongside Wally at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
