Obituary of Vincent J. Cappelli

Vincent J. Cappelli, 87, of Sarasota, Florida died on Thursday, May 3, 2018 in Sarasota. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and had resided in Freehold for many years and in Buffalo from 1965 to 1975 before moving to Florida. He was a sales manager for U.S. Tobacco, Buffalo, N.Y. for 13 years before his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1952. He raced midgets and sprint cars for over 50 years was a member of the Daytona Antique Racing Association He was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post No. 54, Freehold and B.P.O.E Lodge of Sarasota. He was predeceased by his parents, Remo and Ida Cappelli; a brother, John Anthony Cappelli, and a sister, Rita Sheehan. Surviving are a son, Vincent Cappelli, Jr. and wife Trisha; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Dale “Rock” Reigle; a grandson Nick Cappelli and wife Jessica; two great grandchildren, Giada and Nick; and several niece and Nephews. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. American Legion services will be held on Monday evening.
