Obituary of Leonard R. Gerstein

Leonard R. Gerstein of South River, NJ passed away at his home on April 10, 2018. Leonard was born in New Rochelle, NY to Murray Samuel and Shirley Beverly Friedman on May 17, 1954. He married Susan on June 7, 1984 in Clifton, NJ. He formerly worked as a treasurer for FBS. Lenny was a kind –hearted man with a gentle soul. He had a profound love for his family, friends, dogs and baseball. Leonard is preceded in death by his mother Shirley, father Murray, and brother Jeffrey. He is survived by his beloved wife Susan Gerstein; his daughter, Mandy Gerstein and her fiancé Robert Mellett; his son, Erik Gerstein and his wife Kimberly Sami-Gerstein; and grandchildren, Erik and Nicolette Gerstein. The viewing will take place on Thursday, April 12 from 4:00 pm until 8:00pm at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, NJ and Friday, April 13 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Fresh Ponds Chapel, 275 Fresh Ponds Chapel, South Brunswick, NJ. Funeral services will follow at the church at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment in the church cemetery.
