Obituary of Gwendolyn Ramos

On February 8, 1939, Gwendolyn Theresa was born in New York City to Mr. Herbert and Mrs. Florence Williams. She departed this life on May 26, 2015 at her current residence, 65 Koster Drive, Freehold NJ 07728. She was affectionately called “Gwennie.” Gwennie’s childhood in the Harlem River Houses was filled with fond memories and friendships that last a lifetime. As a young girl, Gwennie attended Resurrection Church and School (RCS). Gwennie graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy class of 1956 in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. After high school, Gwennie attended The City College of New York and then entered the workforce. She worked for the New York State and Federal Government, Private Sector. After, Gwennie worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service as a Manager in the Purchasing Department. Gwennie loved and married, until his passing, Leroy Eden Lynch. To this union three sons were born, Leroy Edward, Bruce Alan and Keith Anthony. Later, Gwennie met and married Rafael Alphaso Ramos, becoming a blended family with his children, Rafael Arnando and Lia Denise. Since childhood, Gwennie’s faith in love and God was always deep, strong and sincere as she prayed the rosary daily. Gwennie greeted others with a radiant smile and a warm hug. Gwennie was fun-loving and enjoyed traveling with her girlfriends. Her home was a warm gathering place for all of her family and friends full of great company and delicious food. Gwennie’s culinary skills were exceptional and she passed them on to her beloved boys. In all of her endeavors, she was dedicated and possessed a strong work ethic. Gwennie was predeceased by both of her husbands’ Leroy and Rafael. Those left to cherish and remember her include: her sons, Leroy, Bruce and Keith; her stepchildren Arnando and Lia; her brothers Herbert, Frank, Roger, Reginald, and sister Jean; her sister-in-laws Dolores, Margaret, Elizabeth and Louisa; brother-in-law Lucas; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. A viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and St. Charles Borromeo Church, 211 West 141 Street, New York, NY on Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Charles Borremo Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
