Obituary of Mary Helen Clancy
Mary Helen Clancy (Halpin), 87, a long-time resident of Freehold and later in life New Egypt, died Wednesday the 7th of March in her home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in 1931 in Paterson, Mary relocated to Freehold as a child, where she met and married the late Joseph Clancy and raised three girls, the late Colleen McGackin, Linda Haley, and Karen Vierling. Mary led a full and beautiful life. She was a grandmother to seven, a great grandmother to 15, great great grandmother to one, and was anxiously awaiting the birth of her 16th great grandchild, due in May.
Mary was an avid churchgoer, attending most every day of her life. She was a member of the Rosary Society of The Church of the Assumption in New Egypt.
Mary loved gardening, reading, good food, her TV, and socializing, and had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Everyone that knew her loved her.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Jeff Vierling of New Egypt, daughter Linda Haley of Newark, Delaware, son-in-law Jerry McGackin of Newark, Delaware; sister-in-law Margaret; niece Hilarie; granddaughter Lauren and her husband Chris; and great grandchildren Cecelia, Reed and Melody; grandson Jeff, grandson Scott and his wife Jessica and expectant great grandson, granddaughter Christine and her husband Steve, and great grandchildren Avery, Zach, BrieLynn, Rose, Lily, and Caiden, grandson John and great granddaughter Jordyn, granddaughter Nicole and husband Mike, and great grandchildren Madelyn and Jackson, granddaughter Megan and great grandchildren Paige, Chase, and Cole, and great great grandson Hunter.
Viewing will be held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2;00 to 6:00 P.M. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
