Obituary of Rita Sheehan
Rita Sheehan, 82, of Freehold died on Friday, February 23, 2018 at home. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and had resided in Freehold for most of her life.
She was a policy clerk for Stewart Title Company, Freehold for six years before her retirement in 1997.
Mrs. Sheehan was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold and served two terms as Regent of Court St. Rose of Lima No. 737, Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She was a former member and secretary of American Legion Post No. 54 Auxiliary, Freehold and a member of the Howell Township Senior Citizens.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond F. “Boots” Sheehan, Sr. in 2012; her father, Remo Cappelli in 1978; her mother, Ida Cappelli in 1999; and a brother, John Cappelli in 1954.
Surviving are two sons, Raymond F. Sheehan, Jr. and his wife Polly, Jackson Township and Stephen Sheehan, Freehold; a daughter, Colleen Gazire and her husband John; a brother, Vincent Cappelli, Sarasota, Florida; and her grandchildren, Erin Sheehan, Zachary and Melanie Gazire, and Patrick and Emily Forman.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Sr. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 would be appreciated.
