Obituary of Dorothy Woolley Harr
Dorothy Woolley Harr, 94, of Signal Mountain, TN, peacefully passed away at Alexian Health Care Center on February 13, 2018.
Dorothy led a full and wonderful life. Born October 28, 1923, her youth was spent in Freehold, NJ surrounded by her parents, aunts, and cousins.
She attended nursing school, met and married the love of her life, the late John Allen Harr. Together they raised three beloved children while moving between MA, IL, and several towns in NJ. She spent many happy years near the Jersey shore where she spent time on the beach among friends. She loved decorating and caring for her home. Her children and grandchildren brought her immense joy.
Dorothy and John retired to Pinehurst, NC where they spent many happy years together enjoying family and friends. Finally they moved to Chattanooga to be closer to family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kathleen Good Beckman and Floyd C Woolley, step-mother Ellen Woolley, and granddaughter Laura Breen.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Harr, John (Pam) Harr, Kathleen (Michael) Breen, grandchildren Claire Piretti, Sarah (Matt) Vogelei, Kristen Harr, Katie Breen, Max Harr, and Nicole Harr, as well as great grandchildren Bennett and Olive Vogelei.
The Family wishes to thank the staff of Alexian Health Care Center and Hearth Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to help fund Parkinson’s research.
Family will have a private service at Old Tennent Cemetery in Manalapan, NJ.
