Obituary of Carl J. Franklin

Carl J. Franklin, 76, of Freehold Township died Saturday, February 10, 2018 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He was born in Neptune Township and was a lifelong resident of the Freehold area. He was a foreman for Paramount Homes before his retirement. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner and operator of Carl J. Franklin Builders, Freehold. Carl enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, working in his yard, watching Los Angeles Dodgers games, and had a keen interest in local history. He enjoyed camping in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and the Blue Ridge Mountains and visiting Allaire State Park and the Oakley Farmhouse in Freehold Township. He was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Kristen Franklin. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Komensky Franklin; a son, Daniel Franklin; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Timothy Brooke; his grandchildren, Cody and Emma Brooke; and several brothers and sisters. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
