Obituary of Florence M. Coffey

Florence M. Coffey, 94, of Jackson Township died on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Wedgwood Gardens, Freehold Township. Mrs. Coffey was born in Fall River, Massachusetts and was raised in Elizabeth. She was a former resident of Freehold. She was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. She became a legal secretary and worked at various law firms in Newark and Monmouth County for over 45 years. Florence loved most to be with her family and enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City. She was predeceased by her husband John Coffey in 1981; her parents, Joseph and Florence Lapointe; a brother, Joseph Lapointe; and a son-in-law, William Smith. Surviving are four daughters and a son, Florence and Mark Webster, Morrison, Colorado, Candy Coffey, Jackson Township, Agnes Smith, Freehold, John and Mary Beth Coffey, Patrick Springs, Virginia and Barbara and Jay Cullen, Jackson Township along with seven grandchildren, many great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren. The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
