Obituary of Dorothy P. Alvarez

Dorothy Alvarez of Freehold Township died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Brandywine at Howell, Howell Township at the age of 93. Mrs. Alvarez was born in New York City and moved to Freehold Township 40 years ago. She was a Bank Officer at Chemical Bank in New York City. After retiring she did what she loved most, which was volunteering at the Park Avenue Elementary School, where she loved to read to children. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Alvarez, in 2003. She is survived by her daughters, Lillian Casino, Garnerville, NY, Mercedes Collazo, Lakewood, Linda Alvarez-Cruz, Riverdale, NY and son, Charles Alvarez (wife Teresa), Groveland, Florida. Mrs. Alvarez had nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
