Obituary of Carl Berendt

Carl Berendt, 87 of the Clarksburg section of Millstone Township passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at home. Born in El Paso, Texas, he lived in New Brunswick, Manalapan Township, Colts Neck, and Spotswood prior to moving to Clarksburg over 40 years ago. Mr. Berendt was a dairy farmer with his father and brother, Bert. After that, he was employed by Ford Motor Company, Walker-Gordon, and Owens-Illinois. For the next 17 years he was Head Farmer for Rutgers University, New Brunswick and Cream Ridge. He then was a self-employed farmer in Englishtown, Jamesburg, Colts Neck, and the Millstone Township area, retiring in 2001. He was a long time member of the Old Tennent Presbyterian Church, where he met his future wife and later married at that church on January 2, 1954. He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Alma Berendt; his brother and sister-in-law, Berthold and Sarah Berendt; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Daisy and Raymond Dill; and his brother-in-law, Raymond Dill. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Eleanor E. Dill Berendt; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Dill; three nieces, Linda Berendt Kelich, Judith Dill Chimienti and Lisa Dill; three nephews, Edward Dill, Raymond Dill, and Joseph Chimenti; several great nieces and nephews; many cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold on Monday, November 20, 2017 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Old Tennent Presbyterian Church, Tennent. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery.
