Obituary of Dorothy Apgar

Dorothy Apgar, 88, of Freehold Township passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Wedgewood Gardens Care Center, Freehold Township. Born in Millburn, New Jersey, she lived in the Monmouth County area prior to moving to Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1970. She returned to New Jersey in 2014. Mrs. Apgar was a teacher for the Fair Haven Board of Education, and the Tinton Falls Board of Education. She also owned and operated a preschool in Palmer Township, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor of Education degree from Montclair State University in 1951. She was a member of the Monmouth Boat Club, Red Bank, and the Women’s Club. She was predeceased by her husband, George Donald Apgar, in 2014. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William and Jan Apgar, Fairfax, Virginia; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Moore, Freehold Township; and five grandchildren, Christian and Ashley Moore, and Lauren, Emily and Elyse Bates. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until Noon. A memorial service will be held at Noon at the funeral home.
