Obituary of Florence Davis Gravatt

Florence Davis Gravatt, 93, of Monroe, NC, formerly of Clarksburg, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the home of her daughter, Harriet Metrosky. She was delivered by a midwife on August 8, 1923 in Hightstown, the second youngest of seven children to Charles and Ellen Ronan Neher. She is preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Robert Daniel Gravatt and son-in-law, Joseph Robert Metrosky. Florence was a faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone. She retired from the Millstone Township School System in office administration, where she also held several positions including acting school board secretary. Survivors include two sons, Daniel Robert Gravatt and his wife Penny and John Charles Gravatt and his wife Ellen, all of New Jersey, a daughter Harriet Marie Metrosky of Monroe, NC, six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and countless friends. Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, Millstone Township on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at the church cemetery. The viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
