Obituary of Olga Eassa

Olga Eassa, 93, of Jackson Township passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson Township. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, she lived in various places all around the world and was an avid traveler. She was a registered nurse for Rutgers University, New Brunswick. She earned her undergrad from Long Island School of Nursing, and her Master’s degree from New York University. She had a love for gardening, playing Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, and was an excellent bridge player. One of the highlights of her life was playing bridge with Omar Sharif, of “Dr. Zhivago” fame, in Beirut, Lebanon. She was an outgoing woman who never saw a party she didn’t like, and was known for her “terrible puns”. She was a fiercely independent woman who valued her intelligence, her family, and her education. She had great pride in her children and grandchildren. Her husband, Nickolas, died in 2013. Surviving are her children, Colonel (R) Charles Eassa and his wife, Patti, Springfield, Virginia, and Johanna Karr and her husband, James, Freehold; and four grandchildren, Allison and Emily Karr, and Hannah and Grace Eassa. Funeral services will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until service time. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a future date. Donations in her memory to the Well Spouse Association, 63 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 would be appreciated.
