Obituary of William M. Abate

William M. Abate, 74, of Howell Township, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune Township. Born in Neptune Township, he has lived in Howell Township for the past 49 years. Mr. Abate was an equipment operator for the Pebble Creek Golf Course, Colts Neck. He was a member of the Men’s Bowling League at Howell Lanes. He was predeceased by a son, Joe Storey, in 2012. Surviving are his wife, Helen VanCuren Abate; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Melissa Storey, Jackson Township, John and Jacklyn Storey, Howell Township, and William Abate, Shamong; two daughters, Colleen Brannagan and her husband Ed, Toms River, and Patricia Abate, Burlington; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Judi Abate, Oxford, North Carolina; a sister, Kathleen Bove, Pompano Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Monday, March 27, 2017 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Adelphia Cemetery, Howell Township. Donations in his memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
