Obituary of Martin Metz
Martin Metz, of Monroe Township passed away at home on Sunday, March 12, 2017. He was born in Middlesex County and was raised in Freehold. He graduated high school from The Peddie School, Hightstown. He then earned degrees from Tufts and Columbia Universities.
Martin was the proud owner of Central Jersey Pools in Freehold. His two sons, Steven and Michael, continue to run the thriving business today. He served as President of the Northeast Spa and Pool Association, and Chairman of the National Spa and Pool Institute Retailers Council. He also served as President of the Greater Freehold Area Exchange Club.
Martin was a bright, quick-witted and kind man. He enjoyed going to work every day and the close friendships he developed with so many loyal employees and customers over the years. But most of all he loved his family.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, David and Sadie Metz. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather to his 11 grandchildren. His happiest times were spent with these special people.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Laura, his children: Steven and his wife Carrie and their two children; his daughter Sharon Rosenthal, son-in-law Walter and their sons, Justin and Colby; his daughter Elisa Lemberger and her husband Steve, and their children Ryan, Abby and Zach; and his son Michael and his wife Staci and their children Olivia, Jacqueline, Noah and Ian. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters Lorraine & Jeff Roffman and Larry & Paula Metz, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 16th at the Freehold Jewish Center, Broad and Stokes Streets, Freehold.
The family has requested that donations be made in his memory to the American Heart Association and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
