Obituary of Philip Joseph Restine

Philip Joseph “PJ” Restine Jr, age 62 from Millstone Township passed peacefully on the evening of February 24th at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. PJ was born to Philip J. Restine Sr. and Sophie C. Restine on September 18, 1954. A farmer's son, he followed the family tradition of working with the land. One summer while still in his youth, he captured a horse that had made its way to the family farm. Soon after a young Penny J. Brower searching for her lost horse would pedal past the farm on her bike. The two met and PJ returned Penny’s horse. They would later become high school sweethearts. They had their first child, Philip J. Restine III followed by Jennifer Penny Restine and Molly Beth Restine. In 2015 PJ’s children surprised them with a 40th wedding anniversary party, celebrating their beautiful love. PJ was known up and down the eastern coast as the sunflower king, farming over 350 acres in New Jersey and Cape Charles, VA. PJ helped millions of people say “I am sorry”, “thank you” and “I love you.” PJ passed with his whole family surrounding him - wife, children, sister Bette Restine, sons-in-law, Lance Fiore and James Clarke, and extended family. PJ will be remembered by all as a compassionate, caring, and generous soul. He is loved by many and blessed this earth with an abundance of flowers. A memorial gathering will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Saturday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by services at 3:00 p.m.
