Obituary of Helen Ryno
Helen Ryno, 99, of Freehold Township, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Applewood Estates, Freehold Township. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she lived in Allentown, Edison, and Lavallette prior to moving to Freehold Township 16 years ago.
She graduated as a registered nurse from Monmouth Medical Center Nursing School, Class of 1937. She later received her Bachelor’s Degree from Seton Hall University, South Orange.
She was an American Red Cross First Aid Instructor, as well as a Red Cross Home Nursing Instructor, both during World War II. She was a Visiting Nurse in New Brunswick from 1940 to 1946.
Mrs. Ryno was a school nurse with the Edison School District for 23 years, retiring in 1979.
A life member of the N.E.A.; in 1971 she was listed in Who’s Who-leaders of American Elementary Educators. She was also a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary Post No. 3117, Edison.
She was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church, Lavallette.
She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Harold Ryno, in 2007.
Surviving are her daughter, Joan R. Bauer and her husband Richard, Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; her son, Bruce Ryno and his wife Debora, Hilton Head, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Christopher Bauer and his wife, Susan, Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Brian Bauer and his wife, Suzanne, Annandale, Stacy Wilson and her husband Christopher, and Amy Sladewski and her husband John, all of Hillsborough, and Matthew Ryno and his wife Amy, Collingswood; and six great grandchildren, Griffin, Peyton, Jackson, Molly, Benjamin and Jacob.
Graveside services will be private. Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
