Obituary of Vlasta G. Loxton

Vlasta G. Loxton, 94, of Freehold Township, died Thursday, February 9, 2017. Mrs. Loxton was born in Czechoslovakia and resided in Freehold all her life. Mrs. Loxton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Vlasta earned her B.S. in Biology at Monmouth University and a graduate degree from Rutgers University. She was a nutritionist, biology teacher and at 70, retired from the Freehold Courthouse as a probation officer. She was a member of the non-profit University of American Women, which raised funds for disadvantaged female students. She also marched on Trenton in support of education and women’s rights. She was a member of both the First Baptist Church and the First United Methodist Church, both of Freehold, where she taught Sunday School. Surviving are her youngest son, Jeffrey, daughter, Pamela Bohn and her husband Ernest, her son, Gregory and his wife Jennifer. She also leaves one sister, Helen Simmonds, a sister-in-law, Betty Grinevetsky, and nine grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on February 18 from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
