Obituary of John Jude Caruso
John Jude Caruso, of Millstone Township, passed away on January 3, 2017. He was born January 26, 1962, this beautiful little boy had the unfortunate luck of being born with Down Syndrome. Our mom told us God sent us a Special Little Angel, and if we were good to him and looked after him, he would teach us things like Love and Patience- a true understatement.
Despite his limitations, Johnny persevered every day to do the things that come so easily to most of us-so proud of each and every accomplishment. For more than 25 years, he participated in a work opportunity program for people with disabilities, a program to teach life skills and also provide assistance to non-profits.
Johnny was very involved in Special Olympics and, as a result, became a great swimmer, so proud of winning many competitions in swimming and bowling. He had a great sense of humor, was warm and kind, outgoing, loved taking trips and vacations, and enjoyed meeting new people and trying new things. Johnny had an infectious way of making you feel good just by being in his presence. Surely, this Special Angel had a divine spirit and we are all so thankful to have had him in our life.
Today, Johnny has returned “Home” leaving behind the broken hearts of his sisters, Karen Thompson (Ray) of Millstone Township, Nancy Caruso of Jackson, and brothers, Thomas Caruso of Monroe Township and James Caruso (Dawn) of Jackson, nephews, aunt, nieces, cousins, and many friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents, John and Florence Caruso.
Visitation will be at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Englishtown on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00AM followed by burial at Saint Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial Donations may be made to ARC of Western Monmouth, 200 Campus Drive #F, Morganville, N.J. 07751.
