Obituary of Jessie Battle

Jessie Battle, Jr., 70 of Long Branch, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Neptune Township, he lived in Farmingdale prior to moving to Long Branch 43 years ago. Mr. Battle was a self-employed Mason. He was predeceased by his parents, Jessie and Mary Elizabeth Skinner Battle, and his sisters, Marilyn Barbara Jean Battle and Delene Ann Battle. Surviving are his wife, Tagara Bonita Alexander Battle; two sons, Anthony Battle, Long Branch; and Lawrence Perry, Eatontown; a daughter, Theresa Osborne, Portsmouth, Virginia; five brothers, Jerome Battle, Lakewood, Thomas and Ralph Battle, both of Freehold, Sam Battle, East Brunswick, and Jeffrey Battle, Brick; three sisters, Glennie Burnham, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Fornetta Pritchett, Freehold, and Janice Bivens, Willingboro; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold, on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
