Obituary of Thelma McDermott

Thelma E. McDermott, 95, of Jackson Township died July 17, 2015 at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Pemberton Township. Mrs. McDermott was born in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and had resided in Salem for many years. She later resided in West Atlantic City, Freehold for 22 years, and Howell, Lakewood and Jackson. She was a bank teller for the Boardwalk National Bank and the Salem National Bank before her retirement. Mrs. McDermott was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakewood. She was predeceased by her parents, Ethan and Anna Welker Ernst; her first husband, Stewart Gibboney in 1991; and a brother, Eugene “Pete” Ernst. Surviving are her husband, Douglas McDermott; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Deborah Gibboney; two grandchildren, Karen and Kevin; and a great grandson, Dylan. Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Memorial donations to the First Baptist Church of Lakewood Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
