Obituary of John Stephen Germann

John S. Germann, 77, passed away Nov. 13, 2016 in our home surrounded by our amazing family. The joy that our family and friends brought to him in this long battle with prostate cancer can never be measured. He loved you all so much. You made his life worth living. John was born Oct 6, 1939 to Stephen and Ida (Hedden) Germann. He lived in Irvington and Cliffwood Beach and graduated from Matawan High School in 1958. He ran his own plumbing business, was a water/waste operator and Plumbing Subcode Offical for Neptune Twp., retiring in 2006. Freehold Twp. has been his home since 1973. John was a National Senior Olympics Horseshoe Medalist, a member of the “Jost” horseshoe pitchers and an “Artie’s” card player. He was a Freehold Twp Little League and Freehold Township Girls Softball Coach, a Scout Master and an all-around great guy. McGyver!! John could build it or fix it or find a solution for everything. His basement is legendary. Anything anybody needed, he had it! He loved fishing, loved to travel anywhere.. National Parks, Alaska, the Islands, lobster rolls in Maine. WHAT FUN!! His hands down favorite was camping at Assateague with our entire family and the Bones every year since 1967. What a great life he made for us all!! John leaves behind his wife of 55 years Marci (Mayo) Germann, his children, Cathleen Germann Batte, and her husband Matt, Michele Coogan and her husband John, Stephen Germann (Diane Yusko), Stacey Case and her husband David, siblings Virginia Sekel (Leo), Jim Germann (Adda), Sister-law-law Pinky Schweikert, grandchildren Alex (Marta) and Kelly Gable, Madison Pope, Kaitlyn Miller (Michael), Corinne Coogan, April Germann, Michael Cashin (Amanda), Danielle Cashin, Steven Case, Rachael Livingston, great grand-children Abby, Mathew, Chloe and Julisa and many loving nieces and nephews.
