Obituary of John E. Riehl
John E. Riehl, Sr., age 82, and also known as Jack, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at his home in Freehold, where he was a longtime resident.
Born and raised in Union City, New Jersey, Jack lived in northern New Jersey before moving to Freehold in 1972. Jack graduated from New York University and New York Law School. He was a founding partner of the law firm Britt, Riehl, & Spudic in Freehold.
Jack was an active member of the Freehold community, especially as a member of the Woodpeckers softball team for over three decades, where he was affectionately known as “Gunner.”
Jack was predeceased by his wife, Mary, and his siblings, William, Thomas, Richard, and Mary.
He is survived by his son, John, and his wife, Shannon, of Freehold, NJ; his son, Michael, and his wife, Heather, of West Windsor, NJ; four grandchildren, Lora, Michael, Regan, and Trey; numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold on Monday at 10:00 A.M. followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
