Obituary of Charles D. Hillegas

Charles D. Hillegas, 88 of Freehold, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Pennsylvania, he lived most of his adult life in Freehold. Among his many occupations, Mr. Hillegas was a horse trainer and most recently worked for The David Bulk Nursery and Farm in Freehold, NJ. He proudly served his country in the US Navy for two tours of duty during the Korean War. First he was a proud member of the “Seabees” and then served on the U.S.S. Constitution for his final tour of duty. Mr. Hillegas was predeased by his parents, Merle R. and Edna Nora Martz Hillegas; as well as his sisters, Dorothy Mostoller, Jean Hillegas, and Shirley Einig. He is survived by his life companion and significant other, Linda Harpster; and his sisters, Fae Mitchell, Helen Walker, Thelma Gohn, Kay Blough and Donna Antenucci. Funeral Services are private and are held under the direction of Higgins Memorial Home.
