Obituary of Janice M. Mundy
Janice M. Mundy, 73, Freehold, passed away unexpectedly in her home on October 14th, 2016.
Janice was born in Somerville, NJ and moved to Freehold at the age of 8. She worked for NJ Bell, AT&T, and Verizon for over 30 years before her retirement.
Jan took pride in continuing her education and earned her associate's degree from Brookdale Community College and her bachelor's degree from Georgian Court College later in her life.
Jan was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold where she was ordained as a Deacon and for many years provided compassionate care to those in need, especially the elderly. She was also a member of Presbyterian Women, the Martha Circle, Unity Club and Community Luncheons. Her church family will miss Jan very much.
Jan loved to garden and since 2004, was a member of the Master Gardeners of Monmouth County. She was also active member with the Shade Tree Commission.
Jan was as passionate for her New York Mets and Pittsburgh Steelers as she was for her politics.
She is survived by a son Michael and wife Cheryl (Rachel, Anthony, Richard), two sisters Pamela and husband Fred Moses (Alexandra and David), and Beverly Walker (Diane, Dale, Darlene).
She was predeceased by parents Walter and Margaret Mundy, and brother Harry W. Mundy.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 118 West Main Street, Freehold on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. with Rev. Nancy Conklin officiating. Following a repast at the church, the family will have an interment ceremony at Springdale United Methodist Church Cemetery, 109 Washington Valley Rd. Warren, NJ 07059. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in chard of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church Freehold (Memorial or Deacon Fund) or Rutgers Master Gardeners of Monmouth County.
