Obituary of Elizabeth F. Higgins

Elizabeth F. Higgins, 84, of Freehold Township passed away on October 12, 2016 at Bartley Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Jackson Township. She was born in Freehold and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a court officer at the Monmouth County Courthouse, Freehold before her retirement. Prior to that she operated Avis Rent-A-Car, Freehold. A son, John C. Higgins, died in 1986. Surviving are three sons, Glenn Higgins, Michael Higgins and his wife Susan, and Scott Higgins and his wife Geraldine; a daughter, Sherrie Scott and her husband Robert; two brothers, Harry J. Hawthorne and Jack W. Hawthorne; and seven grandchildren, Brittany and Conor Scott; and Timothy, Molly, Seamus, Maggie and Nikkole Higgins. Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
