Obituary of Ruth Mae Davis

Ruth Mae Davis, 83, of Freehold died Friday, October 7, 2016 at home with her family by her side. Mrs. Davis was born in Hardaway, Alabama. She worked as an assembly worker at Washington Forge, Englishtown for many years and as a dietician at Freehold Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Freehold until her retirement. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Freehold where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Surviving are five sons, James, New York, N.Y., Wayne, Rahway, Glenn, Kearny, and Darryl (Kim) and Carl, all of Freehold; three daughters, Theresa, Freehold, Tammy O’Donnell (Shawn), Asbury Park, and Dina Simpson, Neptune; three sisters, Lucy B. Wiley, Maplewood, Dorothy Gwenette Weaver,Tuskegee, Alabama, and Erma W. Woods, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, an aunt, Orphenia Fitzpatrick, Woodsville; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren. The viewing will be held at the Bethel A.M.E. Church, 3 Waterworks Road, Freehold on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the church at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
