Obituary of Donald B. Bampe
Donald B. Bampe, 82, of Freehold Township died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at home. He was born in Newark and had resided in Freehold Township for the past 50 years.
He was graduate of Bound Brook High School and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served from 1954 to 1958. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves until 1962. He attended Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
Mr. Bampe was employed at Morrison Steel Company, New Brunswick for 18 years as an outside sales representative. He then continued his career in the same field after leaving Morrison Steel. Following his retirement he was a part-time toll collector for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for 14 years
He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine R. C. Church, Freehold Township. He was an American history buff, enjoyed camping, antiques and collectibles, and had a great love of animals.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Melissa Bampe Daszkiewicz, in 2002 and a sister, Adele Granetz.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 54 years, Leonore; a daughter and son-in-law Laura and Patrick Gaire, Freehold Township; and a granddaughter, Heather Daszkiewicz.
Visitation will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home20 Center Street, Freehold on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine R. C. Church, 61 Georgia Road, Freehold Township on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the Freehold First Aid and Emergency Squad, 18 Spring Street, Freehold, NJ 07728 or the Monmouth County S.P.C.A., 260 Wall Street, Eatontown, NJ 07724 would be appreciated.
